Summer Camps

Volunteers participate all summer in the "Kids Care!" camps at Second Chance Center for Animals.  The week long summer camps for students 8-15 years old end on Fridays with "Prairie Day."

Learning about ecosystems

Seeing our role in nature's balance

"Prairie Day" includes interactive games and crafts, a video and prairie dog snacks.

Appreciating local wildlife

The presentation ends with an introduction to special guests, Ms. Feisty Britches and Mr. Bo Jangles.  (They were captured as juveniles during a recent relocation and were too young to be released without adults.  We strongly discourage keeping prairie dogs as pets.)

Blessing of the Animals

Habitat Harmony participates in the city-wide Blessing of the Animals. Many local animal activist groups attend, exposing youth and adults alike to wolf, llama, bird, reptile, prairie dog and more animal issues.

Petting Zoos

Our ambassador prairie dogs, Miss Feisty Britches and Mr. Bo Jangles, regularly attend petting zoos. They help youngsters understand the difference between wild animals and domestic animals, and that we need both kinds in our world.
